Station hand / Stock hand (Cattle/Bulls) – Miles/Chinchilla
About the Role
Experience in a similar role is preferable; however, applicants will be considered if they have a background and keen interest in seedstock cattle operations. Our commitment to your skill development combined with your passion for learning will enable you to develop the skills required for this job. This role will see you based at the Miles property but travelling regularly to the Chinchilla property as well.
Your role will include:
- All aspects of livestock production in a seedstock business including all aspects of preparing bulls for sale, semen testing, feeding, branding and processing cattle
- Previous experience handling bulls will be highly regarded
- A commitment to safe work practices and animal welfare
- Operating and maintaining farm vehicles and equipment
- Manual and computer data and record keeping
- Rotational grazing, pasture and dryland fodder cropping management
- Maintenance of stock water and fencing
- General farm duties
- Hands on learning and development opportunities with you working across Palgrove’s two bull selling properties which includes Palgrove’s premier sales centre.
About You
We require an excellent team player with a can-do attitude who really loves working with cattle in a calm and confident manner. You need to be:
- Observant and able to complete tasks to a high standard with attention to detail
- A good communicator who can work in a team or on your own
- Organised and tidy
- Fit, healthy and willing to learn
- Licensed to drive a manual car and have your own transport.
